Register C and register E parcels: what’s the difference

The Slovak cadastre has two registers of parcels. If you are buying a field, woodland or land outside a town, you should understand the difference.

Register C parcels

Register C parcels are shown in the cadastral map and reflect the actual situation on the ground: where a field, road, house or forest is. On Kataster24 you see them as red boundaries with numbers.

Register E parcels

Register E parcels are based on the original pozemková kniha (land book) and on the register obnovenej evidencie pozemkov (ROEP, register of restored land records). They show the original ownership boundaries from before collectivisation. Often they no longer exist on the ground, because fields were merged into large blocks.

Why they overlap

One C parcel can lie across several E parcels and vice versa. The owner of an E parcel owns a piece of land that may today be part of a road or someone else’s field. Ownership boundaries are brought into line through pozemkové úpravy (land consolidation).

Tip when buying farmland

Turn on the „Parcely registra E“ and „Pozemkové úpravy“ layers on the map. If the plot lies within a land consolidation area, its boundaries may change.

Frequently asked questions

Is an E parcel worth less?

Not necessarily. It is an ownership right to land; the boundaries just may not match the terrain. When buying, check how the land is actually used.

Where can I see E parcels on the map?

On the Kataster24 cadastral map, turn on the „Parcely registra E“ (register E parcels) layer.
